Current Placement Site Information (2007)Agencies Requesting VolunteersARC of Laramie County: Provide social and recreational programming for persons with intellectual, cognitive, or developmental disabilities. Boys & Girls Club of Cheyenne: After-school and summer recreational opportunities for children and youth; before-school programs also available at different locations. Cheyenne Community Clinic: Healthcare for low-income and uninsured members of the Cheyenne community. Work in intake, support/focus groups, follow-up and referrals to assist patients with holistic health issues. Cheyenne Interfaith Hospitality Network: Shelter for homeless families through churches and other religious congregations. Case management or case work needed. COMEA House & Resource Center: Emergency shelter for homeless men, women, and families; supportive services and referrals for clients; transitional living program. Community Action of Laramie County: Multiple programs and services, including Head Start/Early Head Start (see below), Crossroads Clinic for the Homeless, Cheyenne Farmers Market, community education about free and low-cost health insurance for children and families, transitional housing, and emergency services promoting self-sufficiency. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Laramie County: Coordinates volunteers and community resources to improve the lives of children in need and end the cycle of abuse and neglect. Laramie County Head Start and Early Head Start: Comprehensive child development programs providing center- and home-based services to children from birth through five years old, and to their families. Requires a degree in early childhood education. Wyoming Coalition for the Homeless: Day center, clothing closet, bicycles and sleeping bags for the homeless; Art from the Streets gallery and studio; job training, living skills, classes in art, music, and computer skills. Wyoming Kinship Advocacy: Assistance, education, resources, and support for non-parental relatives caring for children. Possible Areas of Service
